No one knows how to make the best use of space quite like the ladies at EveryStep’s Giving Tree on 100th Street in Urbandale. They are putting the finishing touches on their latest remodeling project right now – turning the formerly forgotten ‘library’ area of the shop into a reimagined space.
It began with volunteers building a wall of shelves to expand the room and separate it from the storage area in the back of the store. Next up was a fresh coat of paint on the new walls and the floors (a project that is still one coat from perfection).
The newly organized area is now home to (most of) the electronics and tools in store, as well as dog toys and collars.
Most impressive, Giving Tree’s Tiffany Cooper says, is the reorganization of the books themselves. A group of volunteers put on their librarian hats to sort the large collection of donated books by topic and making browsing worlds easier.
