Here at EveryStep, we already know that I-Smile Dental Hygienist Tanya Heringer is the best of the best … now Iowa Head Start Association is making it official! On Tuesday, March 14th, Tanya was recognized at Iowa Head Start’s annual ‘Best of the Best’ ceremony with the ‘Excellence in Community Service’ award.
Tanya’s mobile dental clinics bring vitally important care right to kids who need it most. She leads clinics at schools, daycares, WIC clinics and more – monitoring children’s dental health, providing referrals for care, and applying fluoride treatments.
Iowa Head Start Association aren’t the only ones singing Tanya’s praise. Here is some of what her colleagues had to share as well:
“Tanya is incredibly deserving of this award. She has an extraordinary way of making the children she works with comfortable with getting their teeth looked at. Often times, these children have never been to a dentist or have had scary experiences with the dentist. Tanya immediately senses what each child might need, makes the interaction fun, and she is a fierce advocate for them when necessary. Congratulations, Tanya, I am so proud to have you on our team!”
