EveryStep and Healthy Start Consortia Host Annual Baby Bloom
DES MOINES, Iowa (March 25, 2026) — EveryStep and Healthy Start Consortia will host a free event for new and expecting families on Saturday, March 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Grandview University’s Henning Student Center in Des Moines. Baby Bloom is a resource fair and community-building event for pregnant and one-year postpartum families designed to raise awareness, provide education, and support healthy pregnancies and babies.
Staff members from EveryStep and the Community Action Network will provide expecting mothers and families with the following resources and education:
- Access to resources such as WIC, Hawki (low-cost or free health insurance), transportation and other support.
- Learn how to keep yourself healthy throughout your pregnancy journey—before, during and after.
- Visit with a nurse and receive free iron and blood pressure checks (for pregnant individuals).
- Learn how to navigate your health and your baby's health when talking to doctors or providers.
- Free dental screenings and family planning consultations.
- Free fruits and vegetables.
- Find out how to get free baby supplies, diapers, car seats and more.
New this year, participants will have the opportunity to learn how to care for their mental health at a storytelling panel with Mindspring and PSI-Iowa. Each session will be 30 minutes at 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Additionally, the first 200 people will receive a free lunch, enjoy music by DJ Hollywood and activities provided for children.
