“Good buildings come from good people,” renowned British architect Stephen Gardiner once said. At EveryStep, we are blessed to be surrounded by both thanks to our friends and partners at Graham Construction.
EveryStep and Graham Construction have been building a strong relationship for decades, constructed on a foundation of a shared love of serving the community.
“Both of our companies are about building relationships and serving our clients,” says Mark Hasek, Graham Construction Senior Preconstruction Manager and EveryStep board member, “Graham believes in giving back and helping to serve our communities. With all the work that we do in rural healthcare we share many relationships with rural communities and hospitals around Iowa.”
Mark says the connection between Graham Construction and EveryStep started more than 20 years ago when the two organizations partnered for a major project that couldn’t have happened without their guidance.
“We got involved in the capital campaign for Bright Kavanagh House, our CEO and I were both team captains on the campaign that started in 2003,” Mark says. Since then, his commitment to EveryStep has only deepened. “I started shortly after serving on the foundation board and then moved to serving on the Board of Directors, the position that I hold today’” he says.
What is the best thing about working alongside EveryStep? Mark’s answer is simple: the opportunity to help where it is needed most. “(The best part is) helping EveryStep to serve communities and families that really need the support. Also working with the incredible staff at EveryStep, it is so great to be a part of this organization that has such passion for what they do to help people and families in need,” he says.
While that answer came easy for Mark, it was more difficult for him to narrow down which fundraising event that he most looks forward to. “They are all great events but enjoy the Good Grief Golf event and have participated in Amazing FundRacer in past,” he says, “but my favorite would be Sip, Savor & Support. This is such a great event.”
