Kim Endecott Returns to EveryStep Hospice Team Director Role

Kim Endecott

Born and raised in Burlington, Kim Endecott has lived in Mount Pleasant for 20 years — spending all of them with EveryStep Hospice’s team in Mount Pleasant and recently resuming her role as team director.

“I started at EveryStep back in September 2004, just shortly after the office opened here in Mount Pleasant,” says Kim. “I worked as an RN case manager until I took the team director position in 2014. In 2020, I was promoted to regional director over home care and hospice, and stayed in that role until returning to the team director position in June.”

With an associate degree in Nursing from Southeastern Community College in Burlington, Kim has an extensive nursing career. Prior to hospice, she spent years in oncology, dialysis, cardiac care, endoscopy, day surgery and long-term care. Her return to the team director position for the EveryStep Hospice team in Mount Pleasant brought her back to her passion for the community she serves.

“I missed working directly with a team of hospice caregivers, coaching and guiding them to be the best hospice caregivers they can be. I also missed working directly with my southeast Iowa community,” says Kim. “The Mount Pleasant team is made up of a few newer folks who are working alongside many longtime hospice caregivers. They are an extremely mission-driven team who believe in the hospice philosophy, and helping our patients and families have the best quality of life possible. They do their work with amazing compassion and skills.”

Kim says helping patients and their families in the last chapter of life is an honor. “We believe in the work we do and we do it with integrity.” She appreciates EveryStep’s mission-driven work to empower individuals, support families and strengthen communities.

Kim and her husband Andrew have a blended family of seven children, two of whom are married. They have four grandchildren with another on the way. “We enjoy country living just outside of Mount Pleasant with our younger kids, our dog and our cats,” says Kim. “My husband and I truly enjoy our fellowship in the Lord, sitting outside for patio time — often having a fire, watching the youngsters play their sports, swimming in our pool, shooting pool, and riding motorcycles with friends and family.”
