Grand Re-Opening Held for EveryStep Hospice's Kavanagh House in Des Moines

More than 100 people attended a grand re-opening ribbon cutting at EveryStep Hospice’s Kavanagh House hospice home in Des Moines today. The $3.7 million renovation began in Spring 2021 and was made possible by generous donor support.

“Renovations and upgrades include modern amenities and décor, medical equipment, new technologies and efficiencies — all for the delivery of compassionate medical care and comfort at the end of life,” said EveryStep president and CEO Tray Wade. “These and other enhancements will allow Kavanagh House to continue its legacy and maintain its reputation as central Iowa’s premier hospice facility.”

EveryStep is a non-profit health care and human services organization which annually serves more than 60,000 Iowans. EveryStep is known for its ability to help patients, clients and their families, and to support community partners as they navigate challenges, address complicated care issues and achieve high-quality outcomes. Serving Iowa from 14 locations across the state, nearly 400 employees and hundreds of volunteers are committed to EveryStep’s mission: to empower individuals, support families and strengthen communities. EveryStep Hospice is accredited by CHAP (Community Health Accreditation Partner) and is a long-standing participant in the national We Honor Veterans program. In 2021, EveryStep earned Service Enterprise Initiative Certification by Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service.
