Karl Vilums Named EveryStep CFO

EveryStep is pleased to announce Karl Vilums has joined the nonprofit organization’s senior leadership team as chief financial officer. Vilums comes to EveryStep with extensive experience in the health care industry.

Vilums most recently served as chief financial officer for Boone County Hospital. Additionally, Vilums was chief financial officer for Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines for eight years. During that time, he was instrumental in fostering a partnership with Drake University resulting in the $12 million Broadlawns Clinic serving students, employees and the community, which opened last year. Vilums also held CFO positions at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, Wyoming and St. Mary’s Community Hospital in Nebraska City, Nebraska. He has also served in health care financial positions in Lincoln and Omaha.

“EveryStep has a long history of providing quality care and important services to communities throughout this state and I am looking forward to working with everyone in supporting the organization’s mission,” says Vilums. “I am excited and honored for the opportunity to become part of this team.”

Vilums hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and a master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in health care from the University of Nebraska – Omaha.

EveryStep has been offering nonprofit care and support for Iowans since 1908, with at least one of its 30-plus programs in each of Iowa’s 99 counties. Staff and programs provide support and education to young moms; assistance to immigrants and refugees; in-home care to people who are ill, injured or facing the end of life; and compassionate support to families during times of grief and loss.
